The solutions to our problems are not found in hope in change, but in a steadfast resolve to get our house in order and live by the Christian Conservative principles that made us a great and mighty nation.

Elias Boudinot, President of the Continental Congress from 1782 -1783, once wisely advised our nation to, “Be religiously careful in our choice of all public officers...and judge of the tree by its fruits.”
Josh Harkins, candidate for Mississippi State Senate, is ready to have the fruit produced by the tree of his Christian Conservative principles examined and enthusiastically confirmed by the voters of District 20. A 1993 graduate of Northwest Rankin High School and a 1997 graduate of Mississippi State University, he is intimately aware of the challenges facing Rankin and Madison counties because he has invested fourteen years building a successful career in commercial real estate and construction in the district.
After graduating from Mississippi State, Josh joined the family business of real estate development and construction. He is a licensed real estate broker and has been involved in commercial and residential construction, land development and property management during the past 13 years. He is the Vice President of Harkins Realty, Inc. a family business based in Flowood, developing, building, and leasing office and commercial properties in the metro area. For the past 12 years he has owned and operated JMH Construction Company, a residential and commercial construction company. In 2007, along with partner, Rich Irby, he co-founded JR Constructors, a company that specializes in storm and disaster related construction services. His entrepreneurial spirit remains a driving force in his approach to business and is a personal testimony to the true conservative engine of economic growth that has proudly driven our nation throughout its long history.
Josh is an experienced leader accustomed to the rigors of personal, professional, and public accountability. He has immense respect for public service, believing it is a serious calling for those with the ability to apply the solid, proven principles of conservative leadership to new problems and challenges. As a successful builder and developer, he has been required to reach across diverse interest groups to pull together conservatively principled solutions that really work, as opposed to relying on theoretical “idea castles” built on the ever shifting sands of liberal policy. His approach to tackling budget issues in difficult economic times is as straightforward as that of any seasoned business professional:
He believes passionately in the necessity of quality public education and is acutely aware of the direct link between excellence in education and local economic development. In addition, he is convinced that limiting government intervention into economic matters is the ultimate key to success at the local, state, and national level. These core principles exist at the very heart of his approach to both his business and his candidacy because they exist at the very heart of our country. As he reaches out to the voters of District 20, his focus will be on presenting these unchanging, Republican values as the foundation for all truly successful solutions for the State of Mississippi.
Today, Josh is a member of the Home Builder’s Association, the Agricultural, Commercial, and Industrial Realtor’s Group, Century Club Charities, and the Flowood Chamber of Commerce. He is happily married to his wife Andrea and is the proud father of two children, Emerson and Carlysle. The family attends Pinelake Church in Brandon, Mississippi.
